Product description

The first choice for demanding alpinists in high altitude terrain with equally outstanding ascent and descent performance.

The Rise Above 88 with a 3D radius sidecut is the most versatile ski in our new touring range. It performs impressively on ascents and descents. A multi-layer wood core provides an impressive combination of minimal weight (1,186 g @ 170 cm), stability and smoothness. The 3D radius sidecut has a very resilient tip, which is especially useful when skiing in wind-blown snow conditions. The sidecut geometry is agile and manoeuvrable in narrow passages, while the full sidewall offers great stability and resilience. The combination of a narrower waist under the boot and moderate shaping in the tip and tail areas helps skiers remain in control and requires less effort, including on ski tours with a heavy backpack.

The Rise Above 88 also comes with Völkl’s Smart Skin Clip system, which is compatible with both Fibre Tech and Smart Glue skins.

Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore
Hybrid Multilayer Woodcore:

The extra-light hybrid multilayer wood core is a very complex core that is used in the Blaze. Light and very stable poplar and beech woods, individually weighed and selected by weight before gluing, are used in this wood core. In the tip-to-tail construction, the wood extends to the tip of the blade and end, giving them the sophisticated combination of good stability and low weight. In the center of the core, a CNC-milled Isocore area contributes to optimal liveliness and dynamic development. All in all, this design allows the stability of the ski to meet the high demands of a freeride ski, and this at a weight that is only slightly higher than that of a touring ski.

3D Radius Sidecut
3D Radius Sidecut:

Three radii in one ski for macimum truning and speed versatility in AllMountain skiing.

LONG TIP & TAIL RADIUS Usage of long radii at tip and tail for big turns and high speed

  • easy steering and maneuverability
  • disruption resistant at the tip
  • no radius limitation and ease of turn exit

TIGHT CENTER RADIUS Usage of shorter radius in the center for short turns and lower speed

  • extremely easy to initiate short turns
  • strikingly agile
  • effortless and smooth in short turns
Full Sidewall
Full Sidewall:

Direct and strong powertransmission with full length sidewalls.

P-Tex 2100
P-Tex 2100:

A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.

Base structure: Brushed structure
Base structure: Brushed structure:

BRUSHED base structure on flat skis with wider widths Superficial & shallow structure matches with wide skis and their bigger bearing face › optimum agility & turning characteristics.

  • Less catching
  • Easier & smooth turn initiation
Tip Rocker
Tip Rocker:

Only bends upwards in the shovel area, while the middle and tail of the ski feature a camber shape. The Völkl rocker construction is directly integrated into the production cycle, so the rocker shape doesn’t need to be bent afterwards, which makes the matching between the rocker and the other components much more harmonized and precise:
